This was a trip that showed me that even I can help other children and how much I have to learn. But what fun we had too.
School Trips
Trip Planning
We are particular about our proper plans
Design:
In close consultation with you we design a trip to ensure that your desired requirements are met in the activities and learning outcomes.
After establishing specific objectives for the trip with the school and identifying what stage of growth the students are at, we can piece together the components for a successful trip with emphasis on:
Yourself:
For the participants the prospect that increased self awareness and questions such as “Who am I?” stem from the positive response to experience of a challenging and adventurous nature and interaction with a different culture.
Others:
An RVA expedition is a powerful medium for maximising group development and teamwork and raising the question “Who are we?”
The Natural Environment:
Our operational sites provide arenas for challenges. They also have a more subtle and powerful influence, where environmental awareness can grow through direct experience of the natural world.
Along with these teachings participants can pick up many new skills which can enhance their everyday lives and provide an opportunity to continue a pursuit in the natural environment such as cycling, bird watching, or bush walking for example. Preparing and cooking meals for the group, health and hygiene in outdoors, and how to set up a low impact campsite are all components of every trip.
Planning Day:
We come to your classroom wherever it is in the world and get the students involved in planning stage such as what personal items will they need and menu design. Having an active part in the planning stage helps the students to be mentally prepared for the adventure ahead.
Parents Information Evening:
Parents as well as teachers should be equally as well informed on the trip activities, operation areas, safety procedures, experience, and qualifications of the company operating the trip. It is also a time for parents to ask questions directly to our staff who will be participating on the trip.
The Trip:
The doing, learning phase where the students are exposed to all of the activities and concepts you have chosen and a debrief completes the trip. After the debrief, award certificates are presented.
Reflection:
4-6 weeks after the completion of the trip your Trip Leader may visit your classroom to reflect on experiences and see how the students have used some of the skills and concepts learnt at R.V.A. in everyday school and social life. Also this is a time to write letters and send photos back to the communities that we visited and interacted with. If there is one thing you can do post trip, it is to send those pictures you promised!
The outdoors is a very flexible medium and we put together activities and trips which tightly addresses a wide range of needs. Broswe some of our ‘off the shelf’ sites and activities which can operate as they are, or combine together for your own Program.
