Kenya Adventure

If you want adventure in Kenya here it is!
Explore Kenya by bike, camel, raft, boat and foot.

Suggested Programme

Adventure awaits you! By participating in nature-based adventure activities, we encourage students to enjoy natural areas. Rift Valley Adventure programmes focus on the confidence building aspects of adventure learning, while adding fun and athleticism to trips that are largely educational.

Day 1 To Nairobi

Day 2 Nairobi to Kigio Arriving in Nairobi you are met by a staff member of Rift Valley Adventures and transferred to Kigio Wildlife Conservancy. Your journey takes you high onto the wall of The Great Rift Valley with breathtaking views down into the craters of the dormant volcanoes Mt. Longonot and Mt. Suswa. Your rooms have been prepared at the Kigio Conservation Centre and you have time to relax and enjoy the sounds of the wilderness before refreshments and a guided walk around the centre and Kigio Wildlife Conservancy. The evening is free to settle in and recover from your journey.

Day 3 Malewa River White Water Raft What better way to spend your first full day in Kenya than roaring down the Malewa River rafting our way through remote gorges. Wildlife abounds with three types of monkey to be seen, bushbuck and waterbuck, impala and maybe the elusive leopard. Stopping for lunch at a Kikuyu homestead we see how rural Kenyans in this region make a living. Onwards we paddle through grade three rapids to our pickup point and back to Kigio Wildlife Conservancy.

Day 4 Lake Nakuru National Park A day trip to nearby Nakuru National Park to see some of Kenya’s incredible wildlife. Home to thousands of flamingoes, and many species of wildlife, including lion, cheetah, leopard, rhino, giraffe, baboons, the list is endless!

Day 5 Mountain Bike & Local School Visit Our goal is to reach Hells Gate National Park. We start early morning cycling through the beautiful riverine Cedar forest spotting game before stopping at a local School. Spending time to interact with Kenyan students we are then on our way to Hells Gate via the town of Naivasha with its colourful markets. Tonight we camp in the Park watching the stars and listening to hyenas in the distance.

Day 6 Hells Gate National Park This park is one of only two parks in the Kenya that you can walk or cycle through. The looming cliffs, birds of prey and abundant wildlife provide an amazing backdrop as we cycle through canyons and spectacular rock formations. For the adventurous there is a chance to participate in rockclimbing and abseiling off the towering cliffs.

Day 7 Mt. Suswa Today we go inside a dormant volcano! Abseiling our way down a collapse hole we begin the journey underground. Suswa has 16+ kilometres of lava tubes to explore over three levels, the tube formations range in diameter from 10 metres to the occasional crawl through. The diversity of lava formations has to be seen to be believed. A magic day where we finish off by camping in the wilderness of Mt. Suswa.

Day 8 The Coral Coast After an early rise to watch the wildlife cruise by, we head to Nairobi for our flight to the coastal town of Mombasa. The afternoon is spent relaxing at Pinewood Village on the secluded white beach of Galu.

Day 9 Dolphin Dhow Amazing! Today we swim with dolphins in their coral garden where we will snorkel and observe the prolific marine life. A traditional lunch on board ensures maximum time for dolphin spotting. Island exploring overlooking the dolphins playground and leisurely sailing provides tranquil silence to listen out for dolphin whistles blowing off the sea.

Day 10 Mukurumuji Conservation Centre A one hour drive gives you the chance to slow down a little and enjoy Mukurumuji nestled on the boundary of Shimba Hills National Park. We observe elephants as they roam around the conservation centre.

Day 11 Mombasa-Nairobi After breakfast and a last look at the views across to the elephants, depart for Mombasa and your flight to Nairobi and then onto the UK.

Day 12 Arrive Home.

Possible Extensions: Mt.Kenya trek, Northern Kenya Camel trek, Aberdare Ranges, overnight rafting trips, overnight dhow sailing, sea kayaking.
