Il N’Gwesi & Tassia Lodge, Laikipia
Lekurruki, Il Ngwesi, Kijabe, Koija and other group ranches offer unparalleled experiences for student groups. The ultimate in culture, communities and wildlife in beautiful and unspoilt areas. Our premier programme area.
The Laikipia Group Ranches are your base for this fantastic adventure. Owned by the Laikipiak Maasai who go about their traditional lives, the 2000000 acres of grassland, plains, Acacia and steep rocky valleys and the Uaso Nyiro River. With all types of game present you never know what you might see. Unique accommodation rounds out what we think is the ultimate Student Educational Adventure!

Day 1 Arrive Nairobi, then to Il N’Gwesi
Our journey from Nairobi to Il N’Gwesi eco-lodge take us through central province where the Rift Valley walls of the Aberdare ranges can be viewed. Soon the imposing bulk of Mt. Kenya, an extinct volcano complete with equatorial glaciers, moor lands and huge tracts of forest, can be seen stretching up to 5199m. After a programme brief the evening is free to settle in and recover from your journey.
To get to Il Ngwesi we drive through Lewa Wildlife Conservancy and we will definitely see more wildlife here than anywhere else! Elephant, cheetah, leopard, rhino and the list goes on. Upon arrival at Il Ngwesi you have time to relax and enjoy the sounds of the wilderness before a guided walk around the Group Ranch to meet the resident Laikipiak Maasai in all their splendour.

Day 2 Exploration by Mountain Bike
Day spent exploring Il Ngwesi on mountain bikes, viewing game, visit a traditional manyatta, view everyday Laikipiak Maasai activities, view how honey is collected, bush skills, collecting water from dry river beds, general bush skills.

Day 3 Rockclimbing & Abseiling (optional)
Laikipia has some of the best granite rock in the country perched on the edge of the Laikipia Plateau. For those that do not wish to participate there are numerous walking trails to lookout points with views over Northern Kenya.

Day 4 School Visit & Animal Tracking
After a short mountain bike ride we reach a local Primary School. The morning is spent interacting with kids your own age, gaining an insight into how a Kenyan child grows up in the Rift Valley. The school visit is usually the highlight of every trip with a profound effect on the visiting students. In the afternoon we track animals with our Maasai Rangers, taking cast of the tracks we come across.

Day 5 To Nairobi
After an early start we continue on to Lewa Wildlife Conservancy for a game drive no one will forget. Once again we take in the amazing variety of animals. After a picnic lunch its back to Nairobi.
