RISK ASSESSMENT PROCEDURES

RVA is recognized as the leaders in East Africa for Risk Assessment and Safety Management in the outdoors.We recognize that safety is the cornerstone of all our trips and that is not just physical safety but emotional and mental too.

STAFF


  • Are staff trained to manage the activity?
  • Do they have training in: Technical Skills, People Skills, First Aid, Risk Management
  • Are the staff knowledgeable and experienced in the location/terrain used?
  • Is there an operational procedure manual available to staff?
  • Have all staff undergone the formal induction procedure?

EQUIPMENT


  • Has the equipment that is being used been logged?
  • Are there procedures for maintaining equipment and facilities?
  • Guidelines for assessment/replacement of equipment.
  • Who is responsible for various equipment and facilities?

PARTICIPANTS


  • Are the participants prepared for the program? Suitable equipment? Physical ability?
  • Have they provided upto date/accurate medical forms? is the form detailed enough?
  • Is there an indemnity form for participants to sign? Does it meet the needs of the activity? The appropriate person should sign the forms, adults in the case of minors.

FRAMEWORKS


  • Is there an operational framework? Accepted procedures, staff/client rations, evaluation and feedback.
  • Is there provisions for emergencies?
