Duke of Edinburgh Award and CCF programmes
Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme, Combined
Cadet Force and Adventure/Outdoor Club Expeditions, Sports Tours
Being an Approved Adventure Training Provider to the British
Army for the past three years, and having trained many British
Army
personnel in the Kenya outdoors, Rift Valley Adventures is ideal
for Cadets and D of E groups who need that extra challenge. Our
staff are also D of E Gold Award Holders and Assessors.
Combined Cadet Force
Our Adventure Training, Leadership and Expeditions are based on
the training we have performed for the British Army and are set
in in stunning areas of Kenya. Our premier training site in Laikpia
is rugged and demanding and ideal for CCF. Courses are designed
for Cadets so students can lead and safely navigate the group
in a variety of different adventure activities and situations
to develop leadership and team skills. We structure the expeditions
and training in such a way that all you have to do is bring some
clothes and we do the rest by providing tents, sleeping mats,
food and of course the expert instruction from the Rift Valley
Adventures team.
Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme
From pre Silver to Gold Expeditions we provide the necessary safety
and skills to make your Expedition a success. Why not spend six
days ascending Mt. Kenya with it’s equatorial glaciers
for your Gold Expedition. Would you like to help build a football
pitch or a classroom at a local Kenyan school whilst gaining
credit for your Gold Award? Conservation work on Elephants or
cheetahs?
Rift Valley Adventures specialises in taking D of E participants
on Residentials and Expeditions to help gain your Gold Award.
Adventure/Outdoor Clubs
Rift Valley Adventures can design a programme
for your Adventure Club needs. We only use fully qualified and
experienced instructors on our programmes with an intimate working
knowledge of Kenya and adventurous pursuits. Link up several activities
into a wonderful adventure that will be remembered by all!
Mt. Kenya Africa’s second highest mountain at 5199 metres.
The summits are covered in glaciers and snow and the lower reaches
are heavily forested with elephants and buffalo prominent. A 5
to 6 day walking trek will take you to Point Lenana, at just under
5000 metres, so ascending slowly is critical. From the peak there
are superb views over the surrounding countryside and on a clear
morning Mt. Kilimanjaro may be seen 300 kilometres to the south.
Laikipia Adventure Training
Combining several Maasai group ranches
situated on the Laikipia Plateau. Stunning scenery and a fantastic
place to mountain bike or walk and navigate through remote but
safe terrain. Excellent rockclimbing, abseiling, rafting and
campsite facilities; a unique site suitable for all groups.
White Water Rafting
What better way see Kenya than by roaring
down the Uaso Nyiro River rafting through remote gorges and then
the
tranquility of long open pools where wildlife abounds. Many days
can be spent navigating stunning scenery in the heart of Laikipia.
Mountain Bike
Cycling is a fantastic way to see the wildlife,
people and scenery of Kenya. Grand journeys through The Great Rift
Valleys
geographic marvels or small local excursions are ideal for any
group.
Lava Tube Caves
Your chance to go inside a dormant volcano! Abseiling
our way down a collapse hole we begin the journey underground.
Mt Suswa has 16+ kilometres of lava tubes to explore over three
levels, the tube formations range in diameter from 15 metres to
the occasional crawl through. The diversity of lava formations
has to be seen to believed a wonderful place to explore.
Rockclimbing & Abseiling
Imagine rockclimbing and abseiling
on beautiful cliffs, surrounded by wildlife with majestic views
all around. This is an everyday occurrence with Rift Valley Adventures.
No sharing cliffs here, only the remote, wild landscapes and stunning
scenery.
Sports Tours
With an intimate knowledge of schools in East Africa
and Australia we can arrange an itinerary for your Sport Tours.
Combining sporting fixtures and adventure activities with time
to see the wonders of each country and explore the local culture.
