Where Adventurers Tread
Réunion
Undisputed Adventure Mecca
Few people outside la métropole (mainland France, that is) know of Réunion and even fewer know of its spectacular natural and scenic wonders. It is a wildly dramatic mountain country. The forbidding mountains and gorges offer a ton of trekking possibilities. If you love Nepal or New Zealand, you'll also love Réunion, which has similar high-quality hiking and trekking - but with a tropical twist. The islands volcanic nature is obvious with rugged peaks to 3069 metres and an active volcanic cone in the south of the island. The Creole beat still lives on in Reunion as it does in its close neighbour Mauritius, but Reunion is a French Colony so services are good and the island has a relaxed feel.
The Creole food is amazing with many influences from the Chinese, Indians and Malays. Réunion is an undisputed adventure mecca. Withs it’s world class trekking, mountain biking, canyoning (abseiling down waterfalls), rockclimbing, surfing, diving, paragliding and hang gliding to name a few it is a great destinations for school groups who want an active trip.
