Dream Destination

Of volcanic origin and sheltered for its major part by barriers of coral reefs forming natural, safe, crystal clear lagoons, Mauritius has for long been a dream destination. The land has an area of 1865 square kilometers with 330 kilometers of coastline. Inland features include a vast central plateau, subtropical forests, rivers, steams and waterfalls. Bordering this tableland are several mountain ranges consisting of diverse shaped masses of basalt testifying the volcanic origins of the island. Three peaks emerge: Piton de la Petite Riviere Noire (828m), Pieter Both (823m) and Le Pouce (812m).

Mauritius is a crucible of diverse cultures and religions including African, French, British, Arab, Chinese, Indian and Creole, there is something for everyone. Here, you can enjoy a dish of curried chickpeas or a nice Yorkshire pudding on the terrace of a French café, sipping a latte while listening to Créole music and the conversation of locals in any number of lingoes. The country today is a recognized cultural melting pot and is often cited as a perfect example of peaceful co- existing of the main religions of the world.  Mauritius' range of activities is awesome. Noted for its exceptional beaches and world class snorkelling and diving, there is also surfing, canyoning, and trekking, you could certainly do worse, but don't forget the multicultural capital Port Louis.
